This seems pretty annoying when you realize that you have been matched with higher Townhall opponents than your TH level, isn’t it? This is a common issue in most Clan War Leagues nowadays and there is a theory behind this CWL mismatch. In this article, I will share with you my two best TH13 attack strategies in 2024, which are easy to learn and will definitely help you win against any TH14 bases in the CWL week so far.
What is CWL in COC?
CWL stands for Clan War Leagues in the game Clash of Clans (COC), which is a season-based league structure for Clan Wars. Introduced in October 2018, CWL allows groups of 8 clans to compete against each other over the course of a week-long season. Clans battle daily against others of similar skill level to progress through the leagues and win rewards. The leagues are tiered from Bronze up to Champion, with the highest leagues offering the most significant rewards, indicating the top-performing clans.
During the sign-up period, clan leaders or co-leaders select a roster of at least 15 players to participate. The format of the wars can be either 15v15 or 30v30, depending on the league and clan preferences, with the exception of the Champion league, which only allows 15v15 wars. At the end of the season, the best performing clans are promoted to higher leagues, while the lower-performing clans may be demoted. Players receive League Medals as rewards, which can be spent on various items within the game.
TH13 Attack Strategies Against TH14 War Base
Here, I will be sharing two types of TH13 attack strategies using the Super Troops. It’s your choice to practice and use any of these combos with war base layout preference:
Ground Attack Strategy with Super Archer and Super Witch
This is one of the best ground attack strategies I use to defeat any max level TH13 and TH14 war bases indeed. The total training time for this powerful army combo is 41 minutes and 28 seconds. Here’s the key: Super Witches with their beefy Super Skeletons protect the Super Archers, allowing them to wreck havoc on enemy defenses. Full army composition details below:
Troops Combo for Army Space ‘300’
- Wizard (Level 10) – 04 Nos
- Super Archer (Level 9) – 09 Nos
- Headhunter (Level 3) – 01 Nos
- Super Witch (Level 5) – 04 Nos
- Giant (Level 10) – 02 Nos
Spells Combo for Spell Capacity ’11’
- Freeze Spell (Level 7) – 04 Nos
- Poison Spell (Level 7) – 01 Nos
- Bat Spell (Level 5) – 06 Nos
Clan Castle (CC) Troops for Army Space ’45’
- Archer (Level 9) – 01 Nos
- Yeti (Level 3) – 02 Nos
- Valkyrie (Level 8) – 01 Nos
Clan Castle (CC) Spells for Spell Capacity ’02’
- Rage Spell (Level 6) – 01 Nos
Blacksmith Equipment for ‘Barrack Level 6’
- For Barbarian King (Level 75): I am using Earthquake Boots (Level 15) and Spiky Ball (Level 18); which I obtained as epic equipment rewards in the Clash with Haaland event.
- For Archer Queen (Level 75): I am using Healer Puppet (Level 15) and Invisibility Vial (Level 15).
- For Grand Warden (Level 50): I am using Rage Gem (Level 15) and Eternal Tome (Level 15).
- For Royal Champion (Level 25): I am using Seeking Shield (Level 15) and Rocket Spear (Level 18); which I obtained as epic equipment rewards in the Super Wall Breaker Spotlight event.
Now, let me tell you how I execute this strategy in a step-by-step process:
- First, I scout the base and choose a side from where I can take down the heavy defenses like Eagle Artillery, Scattershot (both), Inferno Tower (at least two), X-bows (at least two) and, of course the Townhall (either TH13 or TH14) itself. And I don’t care about CC troops at all, whatever it is while doing this attack strategy as one poison spell is enough when troops come out. My initial plan will be to destroy the first 65% of the base defenses with ground troops and then handle the remaining 35% with the Bat and Freeze Spells.
- Deploy 2 Giants Army from nearby two corners just for two reasons: to avoid the target directly on your main troops (Super Witch and Super Archer) by your opponent’s base defenses nearby and to trigger any Hidden Teslas from the corners.
- Then, I deploy the 4 Super Witches followed by 9 Super Archers to funnel the sides.
- Once the funneling is done from the corners, put Heroes (it should be max level according to the TH, or you can use Hero Potion) and Log Launcher in the middle so that they all can enter to the core of the base.
- I drop the rage spell a bit in front and nearby to the Townhall, once the CC troops popped out from the Log launcher because it will be of no use later, if your CC troops (Yeti, Valk) die earlier.
- Warden’s ability should be used wisely wherever it is suitable, with the maximum number of troops in the radius.
- You have to wait until the first 65% of the base defenses are destroyed along with the opponent’s Townhall and then drop all the Bat spells from any corners of the other side of the remaining base defenses. There will be a chance to spread into two parts if you drop the Bat spells anywhere in the middle of the base.
- Then I use 4 Freeze spells mainly on the Wizard Tower, Scattershot, Air mode X-bow or the multi-inferno tower (if remaining) to protect Bats from the area splash damage defenses. Drop only 1 Freeze spell in the middle of the above, any two defenses are nearby to save another extra Freeze spell.
- Once all base defenses are down, I use the 4 wizard troops to clear out the remaining side buildings, especially the storages (Gold Elixir Storage/Pink Elixir Storage/Dark Elixir Storage) where bats took more time to clear out.
Air Attack Strategy with Cloned Super Archers and Inferno Dragon
This is my second-best war attack strategy with air troops. I use these for village base trophy pushing too. You will require 45 minutes to train this army combo. This attack is totally dependent upon the Battle Blimp troops to successfully execute this strategy and for this, you should damage the first 20 – 22% of the opponent’s base along with some mass defenses like Eagle Artillery, Inferno Tower, Scattershot, X-bow and the Townhall itself, then some additional 30 – 45% with Barbarian King and Archer Queen and rest percentage with the main army and Heroes (GW and RC).
But if, Townhall and Eagle artillery are both on opposite side, then I prefer to go for the TH side first to get that initial damage percentage with the Blimp troops just because of the gamer’s psychology. There will be a good chance to trigger the Air mine traps with the Lava pups around the Townhall. If the blimp fails by the Tornado trap or any other reason, there is less chance to win the battle.
Troops Combo for Army Space ‘300’
- Balloon (Level 9) – 02 Nos
- Dragon (Level 8) – 07 Nos
- Lava Hound (Level 6) – 01 Nos
- Inferno Dragon (Level 7) – 08 Nos
Spells Combo for Spell Capacity ’11’
- Clone Spell (Level 6) – 02 Nos
- Invisibility Spell (Level 4) – 05 Nos
Clan Castle (CC) Troops for Army Space ’45’
- Plan A:
- Super Archer (Level 9) – 03 Nos
- Super Wall Breaker (Level 9) – 01 Nos
- Goblin (Level 9) – 01 Nos (optional)
- Plan B:
- Super Archer (Level 9) – 02 Nos
- Super Wizard (Level 10) – 02 Nos
- Goblin (Level 9) – 01 Nos (optional)
Clan Castle (CC) Spells for Spell Capacity ’02’
- Rage Spell (Level 6) – 01 Nos
Blacksmith Equipment for ‘Barrack Level 6’
- For Barbarian King (Level 75): I am using Earthquake Boots (Level 15) and Spiky Ball (Level 18).
- For Archer Queen (Level 75): I am using Healer Puppet (Level 15) and Invisibility Vial (Level 15).
- For Grand Warden (Level 50): I am using Eternal Tome (Level 15) and Fireball (Level 18); which I obtained as epic equipment rewards in the Super Dragon Spotlight event.
- For Royal Champion (Level 25): I am using Seeking Shield (Level 15) and Rocket Spear (Level 18).
How to practice this strategy, let me give you an idea in a step-by-step process:
- First, I scout the base and find both Air sweeper’s directions because I don’t have any freeze spell to pause them for sometimes. Then I make a plan like where I will drop my blimp, possibly nearby the Townhall where I can get the initial 20% damage of the base with the heavy damage defenses.
- After deploying the Blimp, when it comes near the TH it is recommended not to drop it over the Townhall (until and unless you are using CC troops like Super Goblins or Loons). Try to drop the Blimp after a minimum 4-walls distance from the Townhall.
- Follow the spells sequence how I use it without troops failure, the first 5 spells will be the quick ones out of 8 spells:
- 1 Invisibility spell just before the Blimp drops and CC troops come out. You can zoom-in the blimp area a little bit if you are practicing it as a beginner.
- If you take other troops, like Super wall breaker or other than your main Super Archer army, then you should count and hold for 2 seconds. Otherwise, the clone spells will clone the other less useful troops than the main army.
- After 2 seconds, drop the 2 Cloned spells over the Super Archers, drop the Rage spells and 1 Invisibility spell after that without any further delay.
- After this, you have to count and hold again for 3 seconds interval and drop for each of the 3 Invisibility spells to clear out the area. This must finish within the first 45 seconds of a total 3 minutes to complete your attack.
- Once the clearance is done, I prefer to choose one side for funneling and put my Barbarian King and Archer Queen so that they can clear the leftover buildings outside of the walls and my main troops, including Dragon and Inferno Dragon, can enter the core defense without any distractions. I prefer to finish the funneling process within the first 1 minute and 15 seconds.
- From the other nearby side, deploy 7 Dragon troops followed by 8 Inferno Dragon troops, Grand Warden (Air mode), Royal Champion and let them go to the core.
- Warden’s ability shall be used wisely again wherever it is required, with the maximum number of troops in the radius.
- If everything goes to the plan, nobody can stop you winning the game except Supercell haha.
Conclusion
Clash of Clans is an addictive game that gets better with practice. The more you play, the more you’ll win, especially in wars. I generally use the ground attack strategy in war attacks and the air attack strategy for trophy pushing in multiplayer battles. Both types of attacks have their unique strengths, provided you have a clear plan before entering the clash. I hope this guide has given you a solid understanding of how to practice these strategies and achieve victory in the game. Clash On!

Yes, during a multiplayer battle or war attack, the Battle Blimp triggers the enemy Clan Castle troops. This applies to both ground and air troops housed in the enemy Clan Castle.
Is RC Equipment Rocket Spear Worth it in TH13?
The Royal Champion's Rocket Spear at Town Hall 13 can be a valuable addition, especially for its long-range attack capabilities against defenses like the Single Inferno Tower, Eagle Artillery, and Scattershot. Although the level 1 stats of the Rocket Spear may not seem impressive at first glance, its power increases significantly as it reaches higher levels. You can upgrade it up to Level 18 at TH13.
How to get Spiky Ball in COC?
The Spiky Ball is an epic piece of Hero Equipment for the Barbarian King, introduced during the "Clash with Haaland" event in May 2024. Unfortunately, since the event has ended, the Spiky Ball is no longer available for purchase from the Trader's Shop. Players who did not obtain it during the event will need to wait for a future opportunity, such as a special event or promotion, where it might become available again.
What is the Best Equipment for Barbarian King in Townhall 13?
In COC, the best equipment for a Townhall 13 Barbarian King varies among players. For my own strategy, I prefer using the Earthquake Boots and Spiky Ball combo. The Earthquake Boots enhance the Barbarian King's mobility and damage output against buildings, while the Spiky Ball allows him to launch a damaging projectile that bounces between structures.
What is the Best Equipment for Archer Queen in Townhall 13?
For Town Hall 13, a highly effective equipment combo for the Archer Queen is the Healer Puppet and Frozen Arrow. This setup is ideal for players who prefer Queen Walk strategies in wars or multiplayer battles.
What is the Best Equipment for Grand Warden in Townhall 13?
The best hero equipment for the Grand Warden at Town Hall 13 can be ideal with the Rage Gem and Eternal Tome combo for ground attacks, boosting attack speed and extending troop lifespan. For air attacks, prioritize the Healing Tome and Fireball combo for sustained troop health and added offensive power.
